Design of metal ceramic composites

Abstract

The reinforcement of light metal alloys with ceramic preforms offers a wide range of possibilities to improve mechanical and thermal properties and makes them usable for technical application. Starting with the Lokasil® composite material, different metal ceramic materials were created under serial-like conditions with the aim of improving the tensile strength, the bending strength, the thermal expansion, the damage tolerance, and the tribological properties.
