Frame-theoretische Modellierung von transkulturellen Begriffen am Beispiel von ‚Sprachpurismus‘
Abstract
‘(Linguistic) purism’ - similar to ‘classicism’ or ‘mannerism’ - represents a cultural-historical conceptualisation that is configured as a complex transcultural discourse and takes on different, albeit related, cultural-historical shapes in the various spheres of life - language, art, moral, etc. - throughout linguistic and cultural history. Such complex, classical conceptualisations require a comprehensive, homogeneous and at the same time flexible theoretical modelling.
Frame-semantical approaches have enjoyed great success in recent decades. However, discourses that transcend linguistic, disciplinary, geographical and temporal boundaries have not yet been analysed from such a perspective. These discourses represent a special type of frame, because they are both of a general conceptual nature (i. e. at their core they apply cross-linguistically or stand for classes of frames, such as movement) and of a culture- or epoch-specific nature (i. e. they generally apply to individual languages, such as süeze), in that they take on particular features in their respective specific temporal-spatial constellations.
This article aims to outline how a classical cultural-historical conceptualisation such as ‘linguistic purism’ can be modelled within the framework of historical cognitive frame semantics and which theoretical and practical advantages this approach holds.
