Abstract
you first settep foot in the little town of Scilla, your eyes marvel at the beauty. That distinctive rock, with the castle on top; the beach underneath, and the blue-too-blue sea. A bunch of houses, their colourful roofs, pasted onto the rock like precipitating knots of bricks and concrete. When you pass through the tunnel that connects one part of the village to another, it’s not just your eyes, but also your heart that will burst for beauty. This chapter will explore such a picturesque location and reveal that perhaps not all is what it seems in Scilla.
The small district of Chianalea, Scilla’s best kept secret, will fill you with a feeling of having stepped onto an enchanted land. In your own personalised Narnia, you will walk a very long and twirling road – that’s Chianalea essentially – and on every side you’ll see small in-lets, narrow cobblestoned roads, fishing boats parked on one side and balconies of another epoch, in houses of another epoch – right above the sea. On one side and the other, you’ll have picture-perfect corners of heaven, with the sea possessing every corner, with the smell of the sea filtering through the air. If you keep walking in Chianalea, you’ll reach a couple of shops, local artisans, and the bar with the best swordfish sandwich you’ll ever eat. At the end of the road, you can relax by one of the little bars, or the couple of delicious seafood restaurants. With an Aperol spritz or a pint of beer,
