Source of material
A solution of 5,5′-(propane-2,2-diyl)bis(1H-pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde) (0.46 g, 2.0 mmol) in ethanol (50 ml) was added to a stirred ethanol solution (50 ml) of picolinohydrazide (0.55 g, 4.0 mmol). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 12 h, and then the mixture was cooled to room temperature. The yellow precipitated residue was removed from the solution by filtration and then washed with ethanol three times. The yellow solids (0.2 mmol) were dissolved in a solution mixture (45 ml, CH3OH/DMF, 8:1, v/v). Single crystals were obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature.
Experimental details
Using Olex2 [2], the structure was solved using Charge Flipping and refined with the ShelXL [3] refinement. All hydrogen atoms were positioned geometrically, with the d (C–H) = 0.97–0.99 Å, Uiso(H) = 1.2 times, Ueq(C) andUiso(H) = 1.5 times Ueq(O).
Comment
Acylhydrazone compounds are Schiff base compounds obtained by condensation of hydrazine and aldehyde or ketone. They have the coordination donor atoms nitrogen and oxygen. Diacylhydrazone Schiff base can be easily assembled with different transition metal ions in different coordination modes to form complexes [5]. Acylhydrazone compounds have received much attention because of their particular physical, chemical, and antibacterial activities [6].
In the crystal structure of the title compound, the asymmetric unit consists of one target molecule, one MeOH molecule and one water molecule. The dihedral angle of two central pyridine rings is 78.73°. Through the hydrogen bond of O1W–H1WA···O3, N2–H2···O1W, O1W–H1WB···O2, O1W–H1WB···N6, N5–H5···O1W the interaction between all molecules extends into a 2D structure.
