Abstract

In the British literary tradition, the 1930s has been characterized as the golden age of travel writing. This chapter examines the work of Robert Byron and his book The Road to Oxiana and is an attempt to understand Byron’s narrative relationship to the Other, his love of Byzantine architecture, and his modernist prose style.
