Why Translation Studies Matters
This chapter is in the book Why Translation Studies Matters

Abstract

In this article, the field of Translation Studies is mapped with the help of a matrix developed by Michael Burawoy for sociology. His four fields of professional, critical, policy and public sociology are used to chart similar trends in TS. Burawoy argues for a more visible engagement in public sociology. This paper argues for a similar focus on public Translation Studies.
