Das traditionsreiche Organ der internationalen Byzantinistik vertritt Literatur, Geschichte und Kunstgeschichte einschließlich der damit verbundenen Neben- und Randdisziplinen gleichermaßen in allen Abteilungen (Aufsätze, Rezensionen, Bibliographie) und trägt so entscheidend zur Förderung und Entwicklung der byzantinischen Studien bei.
