Characterizations for the potential operators on Carleson curves in local generalized Morrey spaces

Abstract

In this paper, we give a boundedness criterion for the potential operator α in the local generalized Morrey space L M p , φ { t 0 } ( Γ ) and the generalized Morrey space M p , φ ( Γ ) defined on Carleson curves Γ , respectively. For the operator α , we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the strong and weak Spanne-type boundedness on L M p , φ { t 0 } ( Γ ) and the strong and weak Adams-type boundedness on M p , φ ( Γ ) .

1 Introduction

Let Γ = { t : t = t ( s ) ,  0 s l } be a rectifiable Jordan curve in the complex plane with arc-length measure ν ( t ) = s , where l = ν Γ = lengths of Γ . We denote

A rectifiable Jordan curve Γ is called a Carleson curve if the condition

Maximal operator and potential operator in various spaces, in particular, defined on Carleson curves have been widely studied by many authors (see, for example, [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14]).

The main purpose of this paper is to establish the boundedness of potential operator α , 0 < α < 1 in local generalized Morrey spaces L M p , φ { x 0 } ( Γ ) defined on Carleson curves Γ . We shall give characterizations for the strong and weak Spanne-type boundedness of the operator α from L M p , φ 1 { x 0 } ( Γ ) to L M q , φ 2 { x 0 } ( Γ ) , 1 < p < q < , 1 / p 1 / q = α and from the space L M 1 , φ 1 { x 0 } ( Γ ) to the weak space W L M q , φ 2 { x 0 } ( Γ ) , 1 < q < , 1 1 / q = α . Also, we study Adams-type boundedness of the operator α from generalized Morrey spaces M p , φ 1 p ( Γ ) to M q , φ 1 q ( Γ ) , 1 < p < q < , and from the space M 1 , φ ( Γ ) to the weak space W M q , φ 1 q ( Γ ) , 1 < q < . We shall give characterizations for the Adams-type boundedness of the operator α in generalized Morrey spaces, including weak versions.

By A B we mean that A C B with some positive constant C independent of appropriate quantities. If A B and B A , we write A B and say that A and B are equivalent.

2 Preliminaries

Morrey spaces were introduced by C. B. Morrey [15] in 1938 in connection with certain problems in elliptic partial differential equations and calculus of variations. Later, Morrey spaces found important applications to Navier-Stokes and Schrödinger equations, elliptic problems with discontinuous coefficients, and potential theory.

We denote by W L p , λ ( Γ ) the weak Morrey space, and by W L ˜ p , λ ( Γ ) the modified Morrey space, as the set of locally integrable functions f on Γ with finite norms

Samko [14] studied the boundedness of the maximal operator defined on quasimetric measure spaces, in particular on Carleson curves in Morrey spaces L p , λ ( Γ ) :

Theorem A

Let Γ be a Carleson curve, 1 < p < , 0 < α < 1 and 0 λ < 1 . Then is bounded from L p , λ ( Γ ) to L p , λ ( Γ ) .

Kokilashvili and Meskhi [18] studied the boundedness of the operator α defined on quasimetric measure spaces, in particular on Carleson curves in Morrey spaces and proved the following:

Theorem B

Let Γ be a Carleson curve, 1 < p < q < , 0 < α < 1 , 0 < λ 1 < p q , λ 1 p = λ 2 q and 1 p 1 q = α . Then the operator α is bounded from the spaces L p , λ 1 ( Γ ) to L q , λ 2 ( Γ ) .

The following Adams boundedness (see [19]) of the operator α in Morrey space defined on Carleson curves was proved in [20].

Theorem C

Let Γ be a Carleson curve, 0 < α < 1 , 0 λ < 1 α and 1 p < 1 λ α .

  1. If 1 < p < 1 λ α , then the condition 1 p 1 q = α 1 λ is sufficient and in the case of infinite curve also necessary for the boundedness of the operator α from L p , λ ( Γ ) to L q , λ ( Γ ) .

  2. If p = 1 , then the condition 1 1 q = α 1 λ is sufficient and in the case of infinite curve also necessary for the boundedness of the operator α from L 1 , λ ( Γ ) to W L q , λ ( Γ ) .

The following Adams boundedness of the operator α in modified Morrey space L ˜ p , λ ( Γ ) defined on Carleson curves was proved in [16], see also [17].

Theorem D

Let Γ be a Carleson curve, 0 < α < 1 , 0 λ < 1 α and 1 p < 1 λ α .

  1. If 1 < p < 1 λ α , then the condition α 1 p 1 q α 1 λ is sufficient and in the case of infinite curve also necessary for the boundedness of the operator α from L ˜ p , λ ( Γ ) to L ˜ q , λ ( Γ ) .

  2. If p = 1 , then the condition α 1 1 q α 1 λ is sufficient and in the case of infinite curve also necessary for the boundedness of α from L ˜ 1 , λ ( Γ ) to W L ˜ q , λ ( Γ ) .

We use the following statement on the boundedness of the weighted Hardy operator:

Theorem 2.1

3 Local generalized Morrey spaces

We find it convenient to define the local generalized Morrey spaces in the form as follows, see [21,22].

It is natural, first the set of all, to find conditions ensuring that the spaces L M p , φ { t 0 } ( Γ ) and M p , φ ( Γ ) are non-trivial, that is, consist not only of functions equivalent to 0 on Γ .

Seemingly, the requirement φ G p is superfluous but it turns out that this condition is natural. Indeed, Nakai established that there exists a function ρ such that ρ itself is decreasing, that ρ ( t ) t n / p ρ ( T ) T n / p for all 0 < t T < and that L M p , φ { t 0 } ( Γ ) = L M p , ρ { t 0 } ( Γ ) , M p , φ ( Γ ) = M p , ρ ( Γ ) .

By elementary calculations we have the following, which shows particularly that the spaces L M p , φ { t 0 } , W L M p , φ { t 0 } , M p , φ ( Γ ) and W M p , φ ( Γ ) are not trivial, see, for example, [23,24,25].

Theorem 4.2

5 Fractional integral operator in the spaces L M p , φ { t 0 } ( Γ ) and M p , φ ( Γ )

5.1 Spanne-type results
