Abstract
C26H40O9, orthorhombic, P212121 (no. 19), a = 22.6816(12) Å, b = 7.3911(3) Å, c = 15.6072(8) Å, V = 2616.4(2) Å3, Z = 4, Rgt(F) = 0.0455, wRref(F2) = 0.1230, T = 273(2) K.
The molecular structure is shown in the figure. Table 1 contains crystallographic data and Table 2 contains the list of the atoms including atomic coordinates and displacement parameters.

Source of material
The whole plant of Pteris decrescens collected from Duge Township, Shuicheng country, Guizhou province, were extracted by methanol five times at room temperature. The combined filtrate was concentrated and extracted with n-butanol. The crude product (0.95 kg) was separated by silica gel column chromatography with ethyl acetate/methanol (volume ratio 50:1–1:1) to obtain A–E fractions. The title compound was isolated from fraction B by silica gel column chromatography with ethyl acetate/methanol (volume ratio 30:1). The crystals of the title compound (37 mg) were obtained after recrystallization with dichloromethane/methanol for five days, and its systematic name was (−)-β-D-19-glucopiranosyl-9,15-dihydroxy kaurenoate.
Experimental details
The hydrogen atoms were placed in their geometrically idealized positions and constrained to ride on their parent atoms with d(C–H) = 0.82–0.98 Å, Uiso(H) = 1.5 times Ueq(C) and 1.2 times Ueq(O).
Comment
Pteris decrescens Christ in Bull. var. decrescens belongs to the genus Pteris in the family Pteridaceae. Previous studies on the chemical constituents of the Pteris genus found that they are rich in diterpenoids [5, 6], which possess biological activities including antitumor [7], [8], [9], antimicrobial [10], anti-inflammatory [11]. As far as we know, the title compound was isolated from P. decrescens for the first time.
The title compound is shown in the figure. The bond lengths and angles which were derived from the title compound are within normal ranges, respectively. The keto bonds were confirmed by the distance of 1.203(2) Å (C19–O3) and 1.354(2) Å (C19–O4). The olefinic bond was identified by the distance of 1.327(3) Å (C16–C17). And the hydroxyl groups were confirmed by the distance of 0.82 Å (O1–H1) and 0.82 Å (O2–H2), respectively. The aliphatic sections of the title molecule show intermolecular interactions by van der Waals forces only.
