Abstract

Aeolothrips iranicus sp. n. is described and illustrated from Fars Province, south of Iran. This is the twenty first species of the genus from Iran and in contrast to most species described in the genus Aeolothrips Haliday is bicolored. The status of the new species in comparison to apparently closely related species including A. collaris Priesner, A. pulcher Oettingen, A. tauricus Derbeneva and A. montivagus Priesner is discussed. Moreover, it is shown that the spermatheca of A. iranicus and A. collaris are different.
