Gwen Louis Steier
Gwen Louis Steier, M. Sc. studied industrial engineering at the TU Darmstadt and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He is a research associate at the wbk Institute of Production Science of KIT in the department of Production Systems with a focus on Global Production Strategies.
Dr. Jens Kaiser, born in 1992, studied industrial engineering at RWTH Aachen University and Tsinghua University in Beijing. He completed his PhD at the University of St.Gallen where he is now a postdoc and head of the research group Global Production at the Institute of Technology Management..
Fabian Specht, M. Sc., born 1992, studied aerospace and mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. Since 2021, he has been working as a research associate at the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen in the area of Global Production. Previously, he worked for two years as a trainee in the automotive industry in Stuttgart.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gisela Lanza studied industrial engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and held the first shared professorship „Global Production Engineering and Quality“ at KIT in cooperation with Daimler AG. Since 2003, she has been the head of the Production Systems Department at the wbk Institute of Production Science of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Abstract
Designing the strategy, configuration and coordination of international manufacturing networks is a complex task, influenced by a variety of internal and external factors. Therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all approach for the design and management of international manufacturing networks, especially with the rising volatility of the last years. For this purpose, four different industrial use cases are presented to show topics in international manufacturing that companies are currently dealing with and how they are addressing them.
Abstract
Die Gestaltung der Strategie, Konfiguration und Koordination globaler Produktionsnetzwerke ist eine komplexe Aufgabe und wird von verschiedenen unternehmensinternen und -externen Faktoren beeinflusst. Insbesondere vor der zunehmenden Unsicherheit der letzten Jahre, gibt es daher keinen allgemeingültigen Ansatz für die Gestaltung und das Management globaler Produktionsnetzwerke und es sind unternehmensspezifische Lösungen für diese Aufgaben notwendig. Zu diesem Zweck werden verschiedene industrielle Anwendungsfälle vorgestellt, um Themen in der globalen Produktion aufzuzeigen, mit denen sich Unternehmen aktuell beschäftigen und wie sie diesen begegnen.
