Abstract

Nonwoven fabrics are used for clothing as well for hygienic, industrial, and different technical applications. The area of end use depends on the raw material and method of manufacturing. During conventional weaving and knitting fabric formation methods, different processes are required for yarn preparation. However, in nonwoven fabrics, fibers are directly converted into the fabric. Hence their production rate is very high in comparison to the conventional fabric formation techniques. Along with two-dimensional fabrics, three-dimensional nonwoven fabric assemblies, having substantial thickness, are also possible. The properties of nonwoven fabrics are governed by their formation technique, fiber type, fiber content, and type of finish applied.
