12 Computer Applications in Textiles

Abstract
In every field, there is an implementation of computer applications. Computers have changed the sense of working and business. Bringing automation to the textile sector, changing the old tedious working techniques to the state of the art, increase in production, profits, innovation in products, a transformation from conventional to technical textiles, keeping track of the entire production process from fiber to final garment, and keeping eye on the changing marketing to survive in the competitive business environment, all became easy due to the computer applications in textiles. Not only in industry but also for research purposes, computer applications have revolutionized the possibility of novel ideas and products. This chapter is written with key examples from the weaving industry; however, similar examples are available for other textile industries too.
