Matthew within or outside of Judaism? From the ‘Parting of the Ways’ Model to a Multifaceted Approach

Abstract
In der “neuen Matthäusperspektive” findet die vieldiskutierte Frage der Verortung der matthäischen Gemeinden innerhalb oder außerhalb des Judentums eine dezidierte Antwort zugunsten der ersten Alternative. Wird hier auf der einen Seite zu Recht das jüdische Kolorit des Matthäusevangeliums betont, so ist auf der anderen Seite eine empfindliche Vernachlässigung nicht nur der Bedeutung der Völkermission für das Verständnis der matthäischen Gruppen, sondern auch ihrer Vernetzung innerhalb der christusgläubigen Bewegung und schließlich ihrer Einbettung in umfassendere gesellschaftliche Kontexte zu verzeichnen. Nicht zuletzt ist die Alternative, die matthäischen Gruppen entweder innerhalb oder außerhalb des Judentums zu verorten, mit ihrer binären Logik, die ebenso das Modell des “Parting of the Ways” charakterisiert, kaum geeignet, die komplexe Koexistenz von Facetten einer tiefgehenden Integration in das Judentum mit Momenten organisatorischer und theologischer Eigenständigkeit in der nötigen Differenziertheit einzufangen und die Aspekte wechselseitiger Beeinflussungen und produktiver Konkurrenz innerhalb des umfassenderen Beziehungsnetzwerkes der matthäischen Gemeinden, die insbesondere die Verbindung zu anderen christusgläubigen Gruppen (an anderen Orten) einschließt, einzuordnen und zu gewichten.
