Language Policies in Higher Education
This chapter is in the book Language Policies in Higher Education

Abstract

Discussion of the impact of globalization on higher education institutions (HEIs), in the form of internationalization. This process affects institutions worldwide because it demands strategies for HEIs to deal with diversity (social, cultural, linguistic, etc.) and with pressures at the local, national and global levels, in relation to the use of languages in academia. Therefore, language policies can be a way to promote more balanced language practices in everyday activities in HEIs.
