In this work, we consider the system of partial differential equations describing one-dimensional (1D) radially symmetric (i.e., cylindrical or spherical) flow of a nonideal gas with small solid dust particles. We analyze the implosion of cylindrical and spherical symmetric strong shock waves in a mixture of a nonideal gas with small solid dust particles. An evolution equation for the strong cylindrical and spherical shock waves is derived by using the Maslov technique based on the kinematics of 1D motion. The approximate value of the similarity exponent describing the behavior of strong shocks is calculated by applying a first-order truncation approximation. The obtained approximate values of similarity exponent are compared with the values of the similarity exponent obtained from Whitham’s rule and Guderley’s method. All the above computations are performed for the different values of mass fraction of dust particles, relative specific heat, and the ratio of the density of dust particle to the density of the mixture and van der Waals excluded volume.

A wide class of nonlinear excitations and the dynamics of wave groups of finite amplitude ion-acoustic waves are investigated in multicomponent magnetized plasma system comprising warm ions, and superthermal electrons as well as positrons in presence of negatively charged impurities or dust particles. Employing the reductive perturbation technique (RPT), the Korteweg–de-Vries (KdV) equation, and extended KdV equation are derived. The presence of excess superthermal electrons as well as positrons and other plasma parameters are shown to influence the characteristics of both compressive and rarefactive solitons as well as double layers (DLs). Also, we extend our investigation by deriving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation from the extended KdV equation employing a suitable transformation to study the wave group dynamics for long waves. The analytical and numerical simulation results demonstrate that nonlinear wave predicts solitons, “table-top” solitons, DLs, bipolar structure, rogue waves, and breather structures. Moreover, implementing the concept of dynamical systems, phase portraits of nonlinear periodic, homoclinic trajectories, and supernonlinear periodic trajectories are presented through numerical simulation.

In this paper, strong Allee effects on the bifurcation of the predator–prey model with ratio-dependent Holling type III response are considered, where the prey in the model is subject to a strong Allee effect. The existence and stability of equilibria and the detailed behavior of possible bifurcations are discussed. Specifically, the existence of saddle-node bifurcation is analyzed by using Sotomayor’s theorem, the direction of Hopf bifurcation is determined, with two bifurcation parameters, the occurrence of Bogdanov–Takens of codimension 2 is showed through calculation of the universal unfolding near the cusp. Comparing with the cases with a weak Allee effect and no Allee effect, the results show that the Allee effect plays a significant role in determining the stability and bifurcation phenomena of the model. It favors the coexistence of the predator and prey, can lead to more complex dynamical behaviors, not only the saddle-node bifurcation but also Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. Numerical simulations and phase portraits are also given to verify our theoretical analysis.

Some mixed initial-boundary value problems are analytically studied. They correspond to unsteady motions of the incompressible upper-convected Maxwell (IUCM) fluids with linear dependence of viscosity on the pressure between infinite horizontal parallel plates. The fluid motion is generated by the upper plate that applies time-dependent shear stresses to the fluid. Exact solutions are established for the dimensionless velocity and nontrivial shear stress fields using a suitable change of the spatial variable and the Laplace transform technique. They are presented as sum of the steady-state and transient components and are used to determine the required time to reach the permanent state. Comparisons between exact and numerical solutions indicate an excellent agreement. Analytical solutions for the unsteady motion of the same fluids induced by an exponential shear stress on the boundary are obtained as limiting cases of the general solutions. Moreover, the steady-state solutions corresponding to the ordinary IUCM fluids performing the initial motions are provided by means of asymptotic approximations of standard Bessel functions. Finally, spatial variation of starting solutions and the influence of physical parameters on the fluid motion are graphically underlined and discussed.

We investigate spin Hamilton operators and compare spin coherent states and Bell states concerning entanglement, Husimi distributions, uncertainty relation and Bell inequality. The distances between spin coherent states and Bell states are derived. The Rayleigh quotients of spin Hamilton operators for spin coherent states and Bell states are evaluated and compared.

In the current work, the optical properties of tin oxide thin films have been tailored via gamma irradiation for energy applications. The effect of Gamma radiation (50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kGy) on the microstructural, absorption and oscillator parameters of SnO 2 thin films has been investigated. XRD results reveal that the SnO 2 films have the symmetry of the space group P 4 2 / mnm belonging to the tetragonal system. The crystallite size of γ-irradiated SnO 2 thin film slightly increases as the irradiation dose increases. The allowed optical band gaps are estimated by applying various methods such as Tauc’s method, derivation of absorption spectrum fitting and absorption spectrum fitting approaches. The dispersion parameters are extracted from the dispersion curve of the real part of the refractive index. The single-effective-oscillator and Drude models for free charge carrier absorption are applied to obtain the dispersion parameters before and after γ-irradiation.

On employing linearized Vlasov–Maxwell equations the solution of relativistic electromagnetic extraordinary mode is investigated for the wave propagating perpendicular to a uniform ambient magnetic field (in the presence of arbitrary magnetic field limit i.e., ω > Ω > k.v ) in partially degenerate (i.e., for T F ≥ T and T ≠ 0) electron plasma under long wavelength limit ( ω ≫ k.v ). Due to the inclusion of weak quantum degeneracy the relativistic Fermi–Dirac distribution function is expanded under the relativistic limit ( m 0 2 c 2 2 p 2 < 1 $\frac{{m}_{0}^{2}{c}^{2}}{2{p}^{2}}< 1$ ) to perform momentum integrations which generate the Polylog functions. The propagation characteristics and shifting of cutoff points of the extraordinary mode are examined in different relativistic density and magnetic field ranges. The novel graphical results of extraordinary mode in relativistic quantum partially degenerate (for μ T = 0 $\frac{\mu }{T}=0$ ), nondegenerate (for μ T ≈ − 1 $\frac{\mu }{T}\approx -1$ ) and fully/completely degenerate (for μ T ≈ $\frac{\mu }{T}\approx $ 1) environments are obtained and the previously reported results are retraced as well.

Thermodynamic quantities in the coexistence of the liquid and the solid phases for Frost–Kalkwarf vapor- and sublimation-pressure equations are investigated at an isobaric process. Gibbs free energy changes in the gaseous and the liquid phases, Δ G GL , has been derived from the Frost–Kalkwarf vapor-pressure equation. Similarly, Gibbs free energy changes in the gaseous and the solid phases, Δ G GS , may be estimated by the Frost–Kalkwarf sublimation-pressure equations which are determined by data of sublimation pressures and temperatures for 24 substances. In coexistence between the liquid and the solid phases, Gibbs free energy changes in the liquid and the solid phases, Δ G LS , may be expressed as the difference of Δ G GL and Δ G GS . The melting temperatures and enthalpy changes of melting are evaluated by numerical calculations for 24 substances. The behaviors of H 2 O for the neighborhood at the melting and the boiling points are investigated. The Gibbs free energy indicates two polygonal lines. Entropy, volume and enthalpy jump from the solid to the liquid phase at the melting point and from the liquid to the gaseous phase at the boiling point. The heat capacity does not diverge to infinity but shows a finite discrepancy at the melting and the boiling points. This suggests that first-order phase transitions at the melting and the boiling points may occur.

A periodically driven, moderately anharmonic oscillator constitutes an ideal model system for investigating quantum resonances, which are amenable to a quantum pendulum approximation. In the present paper, I study the quasi-stationary Floquet-state occupation probabilities which emerge when such a resonantly driven system is coupled to a heat bath. It is demonstrated that the Floquet state which is associated with the ground state of the pendulum turns into an effective ground state, carrying the highest population in the strong-driving regime. Moreover, the population of this effective Floquet ground state can even exceed that of the undriven system’s true ground state at the same bath temperature. These effects can be optimized by suitably engineering the properties of the bath.
