This article explores similarity strategies in Russian and Polish arising on the level of morphosyntax. More specifically, it inspects prepositional models that fall under N1 Prep-N0 N2 structure and are involved in expressing similarity between N1 and N2 or are conducive to context-induced similative meanings. The discussed models are based on the prepositions v / w ‘in’ ( v stile / w stylu, vo vkuse / w guście, v duxe, vrode / w rodzaju, v manere, w typie, w gatunku, w typie ), iz /z ‘from’ ( iz razrjada, z rodzaju, z gatunku, z cyklu ), na ‘onto/for’ ( napodobie / na podobieństwo, na maner, na fason, na kształt, na wzór ), po ‘by, in line with’ ( po tipu ), o ‘about’. The type of accepted N0 and the preferred type of the right-hand context, show far-reaching similarities between the two languages. Yet, particular attention is given to the cases when a string develops similarity meaning in one language, but not in the other, e. g. structures with specific N0s or even with specific prepositions, as in the case of Russian po + N DAT and Polish o +N LOC .

The article demonstrates the main ways of translating the author’s neologisms of Russian poets into German, which include: transcription, loan translation, descriptive translation, contextual translation and omission of occasionalisms in translation. The relevance of the work is determined by the uniqueness of such a linguistic phenomenon as word creation. Occasional formations help to reveal the language potential, including the inventory of word-building models, thus providing the infinity of the dictionary. The study of author’s new formations in a comparative aspect shows the ways of creative implementation of the decision of the translator, who is faced with contradictions between the possibility and its implementation, between the system and the norm. The scientific novelty of this work lies in the linguistic analysis of little-studied material (German translation of Russian poetry).

The letters from Aleksander Brückner to Miklosich report on the state and development of Slavic studies and linguistic ideas in the field in the late 19 th century and show the role of Slavic studies in the political history of Central and Eastern Europe. They prove to be an essential source for analysing the networks of Slavists and academic and state institutions, which already had an international character at the time of Brückner and Miklosich. Placing the letters in their wider context also reveals the role of Slavic studies in the pragmatically designed project of the Short Dictionary of Six Slavic Languages .

Our aim is to use qualitative and quantitative analyses based on evaluation theory of news discourse from the Russian National Corpus to describe the underlying linguistic features of the means of expressing doubt and to identify some regularities that cannot be detected by intuitive analysis alone. Accordingly, in this article we introduce specialized marker and indirect marker , which were first used by Nikolskaya (2009: 144) in her own work. After analyzing some of the most representative dictionaries, we found that the use of indirect markers of doubt is also typical for expressing doubt (54 such units were found), namely: modal particles of doubt ( вряд ли ‘hardly’, едва ли ‘barely’, вроде бы ‘seemingly’, etc.), parenthetical modal words (может быть ‘can be’, вероятно ‘probably’, возможно ‘maybe’, etc.), modal phrases, such as мне кажется ‘ It seems to me that’, etc. We try to study their dynamic use and observe differences in frequency and methods of use in the texts of modern Russian-language mass media, and conduct their quantitative analysis.

The article examines the issues of ritualization and symbolization in the representation of war within the Ukrainian media landscape through a specific genre of emergency air raid alert notifications as well as its expansion to other media genres based on the analysis of two Ukrainian Telegram channels. The main focus of the article is to identify the discursive, cognitive, semantic, communicative, and pragmatic characteristics of the media framing of the alert genre as well as multimodal, primarily linguistic, means of their expression. The article explores not only the alert genre and its components, along with their symbolic load and ritual potential, but also highlights their importance in establishing a genre network in the coverage of war in Ukraine. The conducted research on ritual theories, encompassing the anthropological and sociological approaches to studying ritual as a universal cultural phenomenon, as well as the study of the specifics of media ritual and its framing tools, allowed to lay the foundations for developing a multidisciplinary approach to the study of ritualized practices within the media coverage of war.

This study investigated the impact of translation errors on information perception in the context of East Slavic languages with a special focus on Ukrainian-Russian and Russian-Ukrainian language pairs. The relevance of this study is conditioned by the impact of accidental and intentional translation errors on aspects of the political and socio-cultural environment in this language pair. The purpose of this study was to comprehensively analyse the impact of various types of errors (semantic, terminological, cultural, linguistic, and culture-specific) in translation from Ukrainian into Russian and from Russian into Ukrainian, including machine and human translation errors. The study employed the content analysis method, qualitative analysis method, and generalisation method. The study of Ukrainian-Russian and Russian-Ukrainian translations revealed certain difficulties in translating texts between these two languages. To successfully translate from Ukrainian into Russian and vice versa, it is important not only to be proficient in the languages, but also to understand cultural and social differences. The use of precision in the choice of phrases, the consideration of nuances in the use of words, combined with correct grammar, and the specifics of the audience for which the translation is being made, all contribute to the perfect reproduction of meaning in Ukrainian-Russian and Russian-Ukrainian translation texts. The practical significance of this study is to improve the quality and efficiency of Ukrainian-Russian and Russian-Ukrainian translations, contributing to the reduction of errors and improving communication in political, socio-cultural, and information contexts.
