Abstract

Small and Medium Endeavours (SMEs) assume a critical part in the monetary turn of events and development, setting out work open doors and adding to advancement and business. Policies to encourage the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been developed by governments that are aware of their significance to their economies. This chapter looks at the impact of government strategies on SME development and business. Grants, subsidies, and tax breaks are some of the government policies designed to encourage SME innovation and entrepreneurship. These policies aim to give small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) the money they need to grow and innovate. However, several factors influence these policies’ ability to encourage SME innovation and entrepreneurship. One of the elements that influence the adequacy of government approaches to SME advancement and business venture is the size of the SMEs. Due to their larger size and easier access to resources, large SMEs are more likely to benefit from government policies. On the other hand, smaller SMEs may not have access to the same resources and may struggle to compete with larger SMEs. The nature of the industry is another factor that affects how well government policies for SME innovation and entrepreneurship work. For example, it may be more difficult for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to compete with larger businesses because some industries may require more significant investments in R&D. Also, enterprises that are overwhelmed by giant firms might be less helpful for SME development and business venture. The efficacy of government policies regarding SME innovation and entrepreneurship is also significantly influenced by the regulatory environment. Excessively complicated guidelines can ruin the capacity of SMEs to advance and contend with more prominent firms. On the other hand, SMEs may be able to access the resources they require to innovate and expand in a regulatory environment that is favourable. Moreover, admittance to support is essential for SME development and business. SMBs can significantly benefit from government policies that make it easier to get financing. However, a variety of factors, including the SME’s size and industry, determine whether financing is available.
