Abstract

At first this contribution presents the history of the research and the methodological problems raised by the concept of anti-paulinism in the pseudo- clementines Homilies, since the apostle of nations is never called by his name. It seems nevertheless possible to distinguish better the reception of Paul himself from the reception of the paulinism, if one combines more systematically doctrinal and lexical criteria. Following, for example, the use of some typical technical terms of the pauline lexikon (the oppositions between “false Gospel” and “true Gospel,” between “the true preaching” or “herald of the truth” and “heralds of the error”), it is possible to enrich the collection of so-called anti-pauline passages with some other, in particular in connection with the figure of Barnabe.
