15. Dekonstruktion: Die Rhetorik im philosophischen Text

Abstract
This article reconstructs traces of the rhetorical tradition in Derridaʼs project of deconstructing occidental metaphysics. First, Derridaʼs reception within academic philosophy will be discussed. Habermas, for instance, criticises that Derrida replaces logical and argumentative rigor by rhetorical orchestration. In order to critically reflect this allegation this article doesnʼt only explore the crucial concepts and thought patterns (deconstruction, scripture, text, trace, différance) Derrida gains from Husserlʼs and Freudʼs oeuvres, but also broaches the issue of rhetoric and style of Derridaʼs writings. Furthermore, this article specifically focusses on Derridaʼs work concerning the relation between philosophy and metaphor as well as his critique of speech act theory, in which he strives for a concept of linguistic force which comes close to the rhetorical power of speech.
