Introduction

Chemeca 2014 is the annual conference for the Australian and New Zealand community of chemical and process engineers and industrial chemists and will be held on 28 September to 1 October at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Western Australia.

The event is also about celebrating and recognising outstanding achievement through the Awards of Excellence in Chemical Engineeringwith the most prestigious being the Chemeca Medal.

Chemeca is hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers (ANZFChE), comprising the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in Australia, SCENZ – IChemE in New Zealand, Engineers Australia (EA) and the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).

Conference topics and themes

This year’s theme, Processing Excellence; Powering Our Future has set the premise for topics and discussions to be covered by a host of international and local speakers from industry, government and academia.

The mix of international speakers will share lessons learned and information on the latest challenges, innovations and developments from around the globe. Chemeca provides an excellent platform for chemical engineers and researchers to showcase their latest research and technologies and discuss solutions to the grand challenges human faces, such as energy, water, food and the environment.

To discuss these issues, the program is organised into the following sub themes:

  • Catalysis and Reaction Engineering

  • Particle technology and Mineral Processing

  • Fuels and Energy

  • Oil and Gas Processing

  • Environmental Science and Technology

  • Food, Pharmaceuticals and Bioengineering

  • Material Science and Engineering

  • Process Safety

  • Modelling, Simulations and Control

  • Nanotechnology

  • Rheology

  • Separation Technologies

  • Water Science and Engineering

  • Zeolite and Ordered Porous Materials

  • Molecular Modelling in Chemical Engineering

  • Engineering Education

  • Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer

Venue

Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre

21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth, Western Australia 6000

Located in the heart of the city, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is a state-the-art facility and Western Australia’s only purpose-built convention, exhibition and meeting venue, housing some of the most advanced technical facilities and communications infrastructure.

Perth is the capital of Western Australia and is positioned as the western cultural hub of the world’s most populous region – connecting Australia to Asia and the Indian Ocean rim.
