Introduction
The 16th edition of ExTech, the International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies, will be held in Chania, Crete, Greece, from 25th to 28th May 2014.
The ExTech symposium series is the flagship event for sample preparation, analytical extraction and sample clean-up techniques. The series has been held annually around the world and has become a unique and vital medium for the exchange of information and ideas in the expanding field of sample preparation.
Key theme and topics
To mark this year’s meeting, the key theme will be “Sample Preparation for Clean Oceans and Seas”. A short course on this theme will be held on the 25th of May 2014.
Contributed sessions will showcase innovative research, cutting edge technology, as well as new products and techniques in a broad range of analytical and applied topic areas including:
New technologies and techniques
Sample preparation for clean oceans and seas (specific topic)
Emerging contaminants and current issues
Environmental sampling and analysis
Remote sensing
Pharmaceutical analysis
Food control and analysis
Industrial applications
Natural products, flavor and fragrance analysis
Forensic analysis
Biological sample preparation
Biomedical applications
Diagnostic tools
Bioanalytical applications
Microfluidics/Lab-on-a-chip: new devices and techniques
New strategies and innovation for Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics
New developments in sensors and assays
Automated analytical systems
Theoretical and fundamental aspects of technologies
New extraction phases
Commercial developments and markets.
Venue
The island of Crete is one of the most attractive travel destinations in Greece. The symposium will take place in the Center of Mediterranean Architecture, also known as “Grand Arsenal” (Great Arsenal), which is the last of a series of 15 arsenals located in the old harbor of Chania. The symposium’s venue is a historical monument located in the heart of the Venetian port in Chania, featuring contemporary architectural interventions that will provide an inspiring backdrop to the meeting.
