Zusammenfassung
In Mai 2011 fand zum zehnten. Mal die Jahrestagung der Arbeitsgruppen der Deutschen vereinten Gesellschaft für Klinische Chemie und Laboratoriumsmedizin (DGKL) statt, die sich mit neuen molekulardiagnostischen Verfahren befassen. Im Laufe dieser Zeit hat sich diese Veranstaltung, die in diesem Jahr von der Sektion “Molekulare Diagnostik“ der DGKL, bestehend aus den vier Arbeitsgruppen Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatik und Biobanking, ausgerichtet wurde, zu einer wichtigen Diskussionsplattform im deutschsprachigen Raum entwickelt. Bis vor wenigen Jahren waren die großen Herausforderungen der Molekulardiagnostik methodischer Art. Mit dem Übergang vor der Forschung zur Routine treten nun klinische Fragen in den Vordergrund, von denen einige in der diesjährigen Tagung am Beispiel der Krebsdiagnostik besprochen wurden: Wie lässt sich eine molekularonkologische Diagnostik definieren? Welche molekularen Signaturen sind hierfür sinnvoll? Welche Bedeutung besitzen hierbei neue Biomarker wie microRNA? Mit welchen bioinformatischen Methoden identifiziert man neue Kandidaten-Gene? Wie entwickelt man daraus Biomarker? Wie lagert man Proben in Biobanken? Für diese Fragen gibt es natürlich derzeit keine definitiven Antworten, aber wir hoffen, dass der folgende Bericht dem Leser helfen wird, den heutigen Stand der Diskussion zu erfassen.
Abstract
In May 2011, the Molecular Diagnostics Section of the German Society of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine comprising the working groups Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics and Biobanking held its 10th anniversary meeting in the Protestant Academy in Tutzing near Munich. During these 10 years, this meeting has developed into an important forum for scientific discussion in the German-speaking world. Up to a few years ago, the main challenges in molecular diagnostics were of a technical nature. With the increasing use of these methods in routine diagnostics, clinical issues are now becoming more important. Several of these were discussed this year in Tutzing, with particular emphasis on cancer diagnostics. Is it possible, for example, to define molecular cancer diagnostics? Which molecular signatures are useful in this regard? What is the importance of newer biomarkers such as microRNA? What bioinformatic methods must we use to identify novel candidate genes? How can we exploit these to develop new biomarkers? How should samples for these studies be stored in biobanks? At present, definitive answers to these questions do not exist, but we hope this report will at least help the reader to assess the current state of the scientific debate in these fields.
