Abstract
Sirmium should be classified as a veteran colony of the Flavian emperors. The colonists are likely to have served in the legions or in the Ravenna fleet. Viritim veteran settlement in the region of Sirmium and in the town itself can be traced from the middle of the first century CE to the third century CE.
