Abstract

The textile materials find applications in three broad areas, namely, clothing, home textiles, and technical textiles. Technical textiles deal with the use of textiles (fiber, yarn, or fabric) for technical properties rather than aesthetics. Some typical application areas of technical textiles include buildings and construction, automobiles and transport, agriculture, sports equipment, medical, and industries. The products used in these areas include conveyor belts, tires, seat belts, airbags, filters, and sealing of electronic cables. China and Europe fulfill more than 50% of the global technical textile demand. The global technical textiles market is expected to increase to US $220 billion by 2025.
