Abstract

Putnam felt a special affinity for Aristotle. He worked hard on Greek and regularly participated in an Aristotle reading group. This paper studies this deep affinity, as represented primarily in the papers “Changing Aristotle’s Mind” (co-authored with Martha Nussbaum) and “Aristotle After Wittgenstein,” considering not just affinities of argument, but also a more general affinity of philosophical method and approach.
