Abstract
The current chapter deals with various kinds of the fibrous materials used for different applications in automotive vehicles. It starts with the fibrous materials used for automotive air filtration. It discusses on typical airborne contaminants and filtration strategies, followed by illustration of basic principles of aerosol filtration. It then proceeds to delineate on the fibrous materials used for thermal and acoustic insulation. It presents the principles of propagation of thermal and noise energies within the fibrous structures. Afterwards, the structural applications of fibrous materials used for safety and reinforcement purposes are included. This chapter also highlights the recent developments that have been taken place on various kinds of fibrous materials for automotive applications. Further, a special emphasis is made to provide the current need of the industry for the fibrous material in the aforementioned applications.
