Cosmos and Creation
This chapter is in the book Cosmos and Creation

Abstract

In the Greek translations of the book of Daniel (Old Greek, Theodotion), chapter 3 has substantial additions, such as The Prayer of Azariah, and The Hymn of the Three Men, the latter one of which is also known as A Song of Creation. This essay investigates two questions in particular. First, how close is the parallel to Psalm 148 as is contended by so many scholars. Second, to what extent does this passage in Daniel 3:52-90 indeed refer to Biblical texts on creation and cosmology.
