Abstract

In the Additions to the Greek book of Esther, the translator with the help of specific cosmic imagery, which functioned on both a secular and a religious level, already pointed to a good outcome for the Jewish people. Albeit that this positive outcome is foremost visible in the final Addition, that is in Addition F, the positive trend may already be noticed in Addition A, since the images of the cosmic events as used in Addition A, harbour a religious undertone, and thereby give a clue to the direction in which the story will unfold.
