„Wer baute das siebentorige Theben?“ Breve riflessione sulle origini della colpa e della catastrofe
Abstract
Thebes’ historical myths tell of its foundation in Boeotia by some immigrants from the East lead by a certain Cadmus, who mixed themselves with the native inhabitants of Boeotia. Such union of different people created the paradigm of a history of chaos and civil disorders, which has found numerous uses and adaptations in the works of ancient authors especially during the devastating crisis of the Peloponnesian War. The present study analyses the adaptations of the Theban saga in the Phoenician Women of Euripides, with the aim of evidencing his peculiar interpretation of the myth and of the reasons of the Theban crisis.
