Abstract

Academic Theology and the Challenge of Naturalistic Philosophy of Science. The possibility of scientific theology is highly contested. Both naturalism and recent philosophy of science provide arguments for the conclusion that a scientific theology is impossible. I briefly clarify both the concepts “theology” and “science” before I analyse some of the arguments against the possibility of a scientific theology. It turns out that theology has the resources to deal with these arguments and to provide a model to account for the possibility of science as such.
