In this review, 260 monomeric Pt(II) complexes are summarized and analyzed in which the inner coordination sphere is built up by a pair of organomonophosphines and two chlorine atoms (PtP 2 Cl 2 ). These complexes are crystallized in four crystal systems: tetragonal (x17)<orthorhombic (x31)<triclinic (x90)<monoclinic (x122). The square-planar environments have cis - and trans -configurations. The former by far prevails. The mean Pt-L bond distances ( cis - vs. trans -configurations) are 2.347 Å (Cl, trans to P) and 2.230 Å (P, trans to Cl) vs. 2.307 Å (Cl, trans to Cl) and 2.320 Å (P, trans to P). There are two types of isomerisms: cis -, trans - and distortion. In general, the derivatives with a cis -configuration are somewhat more distorted than that with a trans -configuration.

The huge research on Schiff base coordination complexes in the past few decades has given rise to several new molecules that have been of biological importance. The ease with which the Schiff base ligands are designed and prepared and their pattern is elucidated have made them to be referred to as “fortunate ligands” possessing azomethine derivatives, the C=N linkage that is essential for biological activity, including antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anticancer, and diuretic activities. A variety of Schiff base and its complexes have been studied as model molecules for biological oxygen carrier systems. The uses of Schiff bases as DNA-cleaving agents and its mode of interaction and free-radical scavenging properties are described. The review encapsulates the applications of Schiff bases and their complexes.

The sp 2 carbon nanomaterials have fantastic properties and hold great potential in diverse areas, including electronics, energy, environment, biomedicine, and so on. The wide applications of sp 2 carbon nanomaterials require the thorough investigations on their biosafety. The quantification of sp 2 carbon nanomaterials is the first and crucial step in the biosafety evaluations. In this review, we summarized the quantification technologies for sp 2 carbon nanomaterials and compared the advantages/disadvantages of these technologies. The pharmacokinetics, the biodistribution, and the ecological uptake of sp 2 carbon nanomaterials were achieved by using the quantification technologies. Furthermore, the influence factors such as surface modification, size, shape, and exposure pathway were concerned, and the general rules in the biological behaviors of sp 2 carbon nanomaterials were proposed. The implications to the biomedical applications and biosafety evaluations of sp 2 carbon nanomaterials are discussed.
