Vervuert began its publication activities in 1977 with the release of the journal Iberoamericana – América Latina, España, Portugal: Ensayos sobre letras historia y sociedad. Currently, it publishes approximately 75 titles a year on the subjects of history, literature, art, and language of Latin America and Spain and, to a lesser extent, Portugal. It mostly publishes in Spanish but also in English and German.
