The University of Washington Press publishes transformative work with regional, national, and global impact. As the oldest and largest publisher of scholarly and general interest books in the Pacific Northwest, we have published more than 4,000 books in our 100-year history. We currently publish 40-50 new books a year in the humanities and social sciences, with a strong emphasis on books that document and amplify the experiences and perspectives of underrepresented communities. Our lists in Asian, Asian American, and Native American and Indigenous studies reflect the deep histories and connections of our location in the Pacific Northwest, facing the Pacific Rim. Our lists in critical ethnic studies, environmental studies, anthropology, and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies are built on the region’s progressive values. We value difference and promote equity, justice, and inclusion in all our work.
