Research has indicated that cheating is prevalent on college campuses. In this study Tibbetts attempted to investigate gender differences in cheating and the reasons that college students cheat. He hypothesized that there would be gender differences in cheating, and that the explanatory variables for cheating would vary by gender. College students at a Mid-Atlantic university participated in the study (257 women and 341 men). Participants completed the questionnaire containing a hypothetical situation and several questions related to cheating.
