About this journal

Interkulturelles Forum der deutsch-chinesischen Kommunikation is an academic forum for exchange between academics in the field of intercultural communication between China and German-speaking countries. Among international experts, it is the only German-language journal to date that focuses primarily on research into this intercultural exchange.

This journal is aimed at academics who theorize in a practice-oriented way and put a strong focus on theory in order to contribute to the scientific promotion of intercultural understanding between China and the German-speaking countries.

It publishes original research articles with methodical and methodological approaches from linguistics, literary studies, educational science and sociology. In addition, it is also open to interculturally oriented studies in fields such as political science, history, philosophy, management, economics and psychology. Interdisciplinary contributions focusing on relevant intercultural issues are expressly welcomed.

Research articles are assigned to the following regular sections:

  • Intercultural academic communication (e.g. studying in an intercultural context, styles of academic communication in comparison, evaluation of intercultural competencies, etc.),
  • Intercultural media communication (e.g. strategies, media impact research, etc.),
  • Intercultural business communication (e.g. intercultural management, intercultural conflict management, intercultural training, etc.),
  • Intercultural political communication (e.g. diplomatic discourses, public diplomacy as intercultural communication, etc.).

The publication of reviews and interviews is also possible.

The language of publication is German. English-language contributions may be published in exceptional cases. Only original publications will be accepted.

The editorial office is managed by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (China). The journal is published jointly by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (China) and De Gruyter (Germany). It is published twice a year (in March and September).
