The ancient Greek historian Herodotos relates how, on three successive occasions, King Kroisos of Lydia questioned the god Apollon at his oracle at Delphi. Apollon's responses were slyly indirect in that the first described a phenomenon in terms of olfactory perception, the second was ambiguous, and the third depended upon the apprehension of a metaphor. The international folktale known as The King and the Farmer's Son (ATU 921) similarly features a king who asks a series of straightforward questions, and a youth who responds with slyness and often metaphoric indirection. I compare the classical narrative and the folktale, discussing the apparent assimilation of the international tale to ancient Greek traditions about the kingdom of Lydia and the Delphic oracle. Résumé Hérodote, l'ancien historien grec, raconte comment, en trois occasions successives, le roi Crésus de Lydie questionna l'oracle du dieu Apollon à Delphes. Les réponses d'Apollon étaient formulées de manière ingénieusement indirecte: la première décrivait un certain phénomène en tant que perception olfactive, la seconde était ambiguë, et la troisième dépendait de la compréhension d'une métaphore. Pareillement, dans le conte-type international ATU 921: Le fils subtil du paysan , un roi adresse une série de questions simples à un garçon qui y répond avec astuce et souvent de manière métaphorique indirecte. En comparant le récit classique et le conte populaire, je discute l'assimilation apparente du conte-type international à des anciennes traditions grecques sur le royaume de Lydie et l'oracle de Delphes. Zusammenfassung Der altgriechische Geschichtsschreiber Herodotos erzählt, wie der lydische König Kroisos dreimal hintereinander das Orakel des Gottes Apollon in Delphi befragt. Apollons Antworten sind in listig indirekter Weise formuliert: die erste beschreibt ein Phänomen hinsichtlich seines Geruchs, die zweite ist doppelsinnig, und die dritte hängt vom Verständnis einer Metapher ab. Damit vergleichbar ist der internationale Erzähltyp ATU 921: König und kluger Knabe , in dem ein König eine Reihe einfacher Fragen stellt, auf die ein Junge verschmitzte und z. T. metaphorisch indirekte Antworten gibt. Beim Vergleich der klassischen Erzählung und des Märchens werden die offenkundige Nähe des internationalen Erzähltyps und altgriechischer Überlieferungen zum Königreich Lydien und zum delphischen Orakel erörtert.

In my paper, I look at a tale-type which has had a long and varied history, even by the often remarkable standards of international folktales. As such, the story provides us with an example of the persistence of certain themes in popular culture. The tale in question is ATU 901: Taming of the Shrew , obviously best-known in its dramatic adaptation by William Shakespeare, but appearing also in medieval sources. In modern times, it has likewise appeared in several literary sources, and has also been recorded in the oral traditions of many countries in Europe and beyond, thus proving its enduring interest as a popular narrative piece. In Ireland, for example, the rich resources of the National Folklore Archive provide about one hundred and fifty versions of the story. The basic theme of the story would appear to be more ancient than medieval, however, and to have a counterpart in an area of the world far away from Ireland or even Europe. This occurs in a story associated with the great Chinese military strategist and philosopher, Sunzi, writer of the well-known treatise The Art of War , widely regarded as the earliest work of its kind. This book was compiled in the fifth century B.C., and is mentioned in the works of a famous Chinese historian writing some four hundred years later. In this latter work, we find an anecdote of Sunzi which resembles the basic motif of The Taming of the Shrew – i.e., the imposition of authority by means of terror and brutality, with the deliberate (and successful) intention of producing unquestioning obedience.   Résumé Mon article est consacré à un conte-type qui a une histoire longue et diversifiée, même si l'on tient compte des standards souvent remarquables des contes de tradition internationale. En tant que tel, le récit représente l'exemple de la persistance de certains thèmes dans la culture populaire. Il s'agit de ATU 901: La Mégère apprivoisée , sans doute surtout connu à travers l'adaptation dramatique par William Shakespeare. Ce conte-type apparaît déjà dans des sources médiévales; en temps modernes, on l'a trouvé, à part de plusieurs versions littéraires, dans la tradition orale de beaucoup de pays européens et aussi extra-européens, ce qui prouve son interêt permanent comme récit populaire. En Irlande, par exemple, les riches ressources des Archives Nationaux du Folklore contiennent à peu près 150 versions de ce conte. Le thème sous-jacent du récit, cependant, remonte apparemment encore plus loin qu'au moyen âge : une narration analogue se trouve dans une région du monde bien loin de l'Irlande et même de l'Europe. Elle figure dans une histoire associée avec le grand stratège militaire et philosophe chinois Sun Tse, auteur de L'Art de la guerre , un traité connu qui est considéré, dans une large mesure, comme première œuvre de ce genre. Ce livre a été compilé au cinquième siècle av. J.-C. et est mentionné dans les œuvres d'un fameux historien chinois qui écrivait quatre cents ans plus tard. Chez lui, on trouve une anecdote sur Sun Tse qui ressemble au motif qui est à la base de La Mégère apprivoisée – c'est-à-dire l'imposition d'autorité à l'aide de terreur et de force brute, avec l'intention consciente (et couronnée de succès) de produire de l'obéissance aveugle.   Zusammenfassung Mein Aufsatz befaßt sich mit einem Erzähltyp, der eine lange und vielgestaltige Geschichte hat, selbst gemessen am oft bemerkenswerten Standard internationaler Volkserzählungen. Die Geschichte bietet ein Beispiel für die Dauerhaftigkeit von Themen in der populären Kultur. Es handelt sich um ATU 901: Der Widerspenstigen Zähmung , sicher am besten bekannt durch William Shakespeares Bearbeitung als Komödie. Der Erzähltyp hat jedoch bereits mittelalterliche Vorläufer; in neuerer Zeit zeigt sich das anhaltende Interesse an diesem Typ über mehrere literarische Versionen hinaus an Aufzeichnungen aus der mündlichen Überlieferung vieler europäischer und außereuropäischer Länder. In Irland z. B. enthalten die reichen Bestände des nationalen Folklore-Archivs etwa 150 Varianten. Das zugrundeliegende Thema scheint jedoch noch weiter als ins Mittelalter zurückzugehen und ein Gegenstück in einer Weltgegend zu besitzen, die weit von Irland und allgemein von Europa entfernt ist. Es kommt in einer Geschichte vor, die mit dem großen chinesischen Militärstrategen und Philosophen Sunzi verbunden ist, dem Verfasser der bekannten Abhandlung Die Kunst des Krieges , die weithin als frühestes Werk seiner Art betrachtet wird. Das Buch wurde im 5. Jh. v. Chr. verfaßt und ist in den Werken eines berühmten chinesischen Geschichtsschreibers, der etwa vierhundert Jahre später wirkte, erwähnt. Hier finden wir eine Anekdote über Sunzi, die dem Grundmotiv von Der Widerspenstigen Zähmung ähnelt – d. h. der Durchsetzung von Autorität mit Hilfe von Schrecken und brutaler Gewalt, mit der bewußten (und erfolgreichen) Absicht, blinden Gehorsam zu erzeugen.

Modern Greek versions of AaTh 313 C/ATU 313 represent a quite unique case in the history of research on tales of magic, due to two reasons: firstly, this is one of the rare paradigms of a literary Italian Renaissance novella ( La sposa dimenticata , fifth novella of the Libro d'Arme e d'amore nomato Mambriano by Francesco Cieco da Ferrara, 1509) entering the oral tradition of fairy tales (represented by over hundred recorded Greek variants), a process linked to the era of Venetian rule in Crete in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; and secondly, because in the versions of the Greek archipelago and mainly Crete, the end of the fairy tale is substituted by a verse fragment which seems to be part of the two last scenes of a lost comedy of Cretan literature from the seventeenth century. The text tradition of this literary work is sufficiently well preserved that an attempt to reconstruct the original text could be made. This is not the only case of preservation of parts of a literary text in the oral tradition of Crete. Résumé Les versions modernes grecques du conte-type AaTh 313 C/ATU 313 représentent un cas plutôt unique dans l'histoire de la recherche sur les contes merveilleux, et cela pour deux raisons : d'abord, il s'agit d'un des rares exemples où une nouvelle littéraire de la Renaissance italienne ( La sposa dimenticata , cinquième nouvelle du Libro d'Arme e d'amore nomato Mambriano par Francesco Cieco da Ferrara, 1509) a été adoptée par la tradition orale du conte (représentée par plus de cent variantes grecques qui ont été recueillies), un processus qui se rattache à l'époque du règne vénétien en Crète aux XVI e et XVII e siècles ; et deuxièment, puisque dans les versions de l'archipel grec et surtout de la Crète, la fin du conte a été remplacée par un fragment en vers qui semble appartenir aux deux dernières scènes d'une comédie perdue de la littérature crétoise du XVII e siècle. La tradition textuelle de cette œuvre littéraire est suffisamment bien préservée pour permettre une tentative à la reconstruction du texte d'origine. Ceci n'est pas le seul cas où des parties d'un texte littéraire ont été préservées dans la tradition orale de la Crète. Zusammenfassung Die modernen griechischen Varianten von AaTh 313 C/ATU 313 bilden einen ziemlich einzigartigen Fall in der Geschichte der Märchenforschung, und zwar aus zweierlei Gründen: erstens handelt es sich hier um eines der wenigen Beispiele einer literarischen italienischen Renaissancenovelle ( La sposa dimenticata , fünfte Novelle des Libro d'Arme e d'amore nomato Mambriano von Francesco Cieco da Ferrara, 1509), die in die mündliche Märchenüberlieferung (mit über hundert Aufzeichnungen aus Griechenland) eingegangen ist – ein Vorgang, der in Zusammenhang mit der Zeit der venezianischen Beherrschung Kretas im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert steht; und zweitens, weil in den Varianten der griechischen Inseln und vor allem Kretas das Ende des Märchens durch ein Versfragment ersetzt ist, das Teil der beiden letzten Szenen einer verlorenen Komödie der kretischen Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts zu sein scheint. Der Zustand der Textüberlieferung dieses literarischen Werks würde ausreichen, um den Versuch einer Rekonstruktion des Originaltexts zu wagen. Dies ist nicht das einzige Beispiel dafür, daß sich Teile eines literarischen Texts in der mündlichen Überlieferung Kretas erhalten haben.

In some Greek legends and folktales – as elsewhere – we meet the following narrative pattern: fairies dancing in the moonlight, or birds bathing in a pond; taking away her plumage or her scarf, the hero comes into possession of a supernatural wife – a fairy or an enchanted animal with the power of transformation. Years later, she recovers her wings or scarf and leaves her husband. This part is common and stable in legends and tales of magic while the recovery of the supernatural wife is the essential part of the folktale plot (ATU 400). This narrative pattern is widespread and has influenced both oral and literary traditions worldwide. In belief stories there are many variants where the fairy or mermaid is cruel to her husband and children. These brutal features are not included in the wonder-tale, where the figure of the protagonist is treated with a certain degree of abstraction. Local beliefs that have their own symbolism (like the story of Alexander the Great and the mermaid) may also be treated as introductory episodes of ATU 400, although in a limited number of versions.   Résumé En Grèce comme ailleurs, il existe des légendes locales et des contes où l'on trouve le schéma narratif suivant : lors d'un rassemblement de fées qui dansent au clair de lune (ou de femmes-oiseaux qui se baignent dans un lac), un jeune homme arrive à s'accaparer du foulard (ou du plumage) de l'une d'elles qui devient sa femme. Or, cette fiancée exotique (fée ou animal) possède des dons de transformation magique et, des années plus tard, elle arrive à récupérer son foulard ou son plumage et s'envole au loin. Ce récit se présente de façon stable comme l'épisode introductif du conte merveilleux « La Fée ou l'épouse disparue » (ATU 400), formant une partie essentielle de son intrigue. Ce schéma narratif est très répandu et a influencé la tradition orale et littéraire dans le monde entier. Dans le corpus des légendes, la fée est souvent cruelle et elle brutalise (ou tue) son mari et ses enfants humains. Dans le conte merveilleux en revanche, la cruauté de la fée disparaît, alors que ses traits acquièrent un caractère plutôt abstrait. En outre, il existe des légendes locales, qui comportent leur symbolisme propre : par exemple, l'histoire d'Alexandre le Grand et de ses soeurs, changées en fées. Ce type de récit est souvent intégré dans le conte de l'épouse disparue (ATU 400) en tant qu'épisode introductif des versions grecques.   Zusammenfassung In einigen griechischen Sagen und Märchen – und anderswo – findet sich das folgende Erzählmuster: Feen tanzen im Mondschein, oder Vögel baden in einem Teich; der Held raubt einer von ihnen ihr Tuch oder ihr Federkleid und erwirbt so eine übernatürliche Ehefrau – eine Fee oder ein verzaubertes Tier, das verwandlungsfähig ist. Jahre später findet sie ihre Flügel oder ihr Tuch wieder und verläßt ihren Mann. Dieser Teil ist ein geläufiges und stabiles Element von Sagen und Zaubermärchen; die Wiedergewinnung der übernatürlichen Ehefrau dagegen bildet den Hauptteil der Märchenhandlung von ATU 400. Dieses weitverbreitete Erzählmuster hat weltweit mündliche und literarische Überlieferungen beeinflußt. In vielen Varianten von Glaubenssagen ist die Fee oder Nixe grausam zu ihrem Mann und ihren Kundern. Solche Brutalitäten fehlen im Zaubermärchen, in dem die Protagonistin mit einer gewissen Abstraktion behandelt wird. Lokale Glaubensvorstellungen, die ihre eigene Symbolik besitzen (wie die Geschichte von Alexander dem Großen und der Meerjungfrau), bilden in einer begrenzten Anzahl von Versionen die Einleitung zu ATU 400.

Danish folk tradition about werewolves is quite different from that of other European countries, both concerning the way a human turns into a werewolf and the ways he can be delivered from the spell. Statements and stories centre on questions of pregnancy and childbirth, labour pains and illicit sex, but with quite a specific narrative core. They certainly can tell us something about a community's preoccupations. But do they tell us anything about a community's beliefs? Legends have always had an uncertain status on the sliding scale from assertive speech act to expressive speech act. In a way, the more elaborate a legend is as a narrative, the less we can infer about the ‘belief’ it is supposed to express. Most statements and stories about werewolves published by Danish folklorist Evald Tang Kristensen between 1892 and 1901 and largely collected by him, have been noted down in a manner closer to the informants' enunciation than was customary at the time. For most informants, this enables us to examine the interplay between collective mental representations and individual aesthetic preoccupations.   Résumé La tradition populaire sur les loups-garous au Danemark est assez différente de celle des autres pays européens, en ce qui concerne et la raison pour laquelle un être humain devient garou et les manières dont on peut abolir cette malédiction. Les récits de croyance traitent de thèmes tels que grossesse, douleurs de l'enfantement et sexualité illicite, mais autour d'un noyau narratif bien spécifique. Ces récits expriment les préoccupations d'une communauté, sans aucun doute. Mais expriment-ils ses croyances? Les légendes ont toujours eu un statut incertain entre actes de paroles énonciatifs et actes de parole expressifs. D'une certaine manière, plus une légende a la forme d'un récit élaboré, et moins on peut en conclure sur la ‹ croyance › qu'elle est censée exprimer. La plupart des énoncés et récits sur les loups-garous publiés par le folkloriste danois Evald Tang Kristensen entre 1892 et 1901, et en grande partie collectés par lui, ont été notés d'une manière beaucoup plus proche de l'énonciation des informateurs qu'on avait coutume de le faire à son époque. Cela nous permet d'examiner chez beaucoup de ses informateurs le jeu conjugué entre représentations mentales collectives et soucis d'esthétique individuels.   Zusammenfassung Dänische Werwolfüberlieferungen unterscheiden sich von denen anderer europäischer Länder, sowohl in Hinblick auf die Gründe dafür, warum ein Mensch zum Werwolf wird, als auch hinsichtlich der Erlösungsmöglichkeiten. Aussagen und Erzählungen zu diesem Themenkomplex kreisen um Schwangerschaft und Geburt, Wehenschmerzen und verbotene Sexualität, wobei sie einen sehr spezifischen Erzählkern aufweisen. Zweifellos sagen sie etwas über Dinge aus, die die Gemeinschaft beschäftigen. Aber sagen sie uns auch etwas über deren Glaubensvorstellungen? Sagen hatten schon immer einen unbestimmten Status zwischen Aussage- und Ausdrucksform: Je kunstvoller eine Sage in erzählerischer Hinsicht ist, desto weniger können wir ihr in gewisser Weise über die von ihr anscheinend zum Ausdruck gebrachten Glaubensvorstellungen entnehmen. Die meisten Aussagen und Erzählungen über Werwölfe, die der dänische Sammler Evald Tang Kristensen zwischen 1892 und 1901 veröffentlichte und die er zu einem großen Teil selbst aufgezeichnet hat, wurden in einer Weise notiert, die dem von den Informanten Gesagten enger entspricht als zu seiner Zeit üblich war. Für die Mehrzahl davon sind wir somit in der Lage, das Zusammenspiel zwischen kollektiver geistiger Vorstellung und individuellen ästhetischen Bedürfnissen einer Prüfung zu unterziehen.

This study will examine what creates the appeal of Japanese animal-wife tales. To reach this end, this study undertakes two parallel tasks. One is to understand what characterizes these tales in terms of gender-specific behaviour of the two tale figures, an animal woman (i.e., an animal in human female form) and a human male. The other is to delve into the motivation of that gender-specific behaviour, and to understand how these tales revolve around the symbolic inversion of social codes concerning normative connubial manners. Résumé Cette étude examine ce qui suscite l'attrait des contes japonais sur l'épouse-animale. Dans ce but, nous entreprenons deux tâches parallèles. D'une part, nous analysons ce qui caractérise ces contes au niveau des comportements spécifiques au genre des deux protagonistes dont l'un est un animal en forme féminine humaine, l'autre un mâle humain. D'autre part, il nous faut explorer la motivation de ces comportements pour mieux cerner de quelle façon ces contes sont axés sur l'inversion symbolique des codes sociaux, concernant les mœurs conjugales normatives. Zusammenfassung Diese Arbeit untersucht, was den Reiz der japanischen Tierfrauengeschichten ausmacht. Dabei werden parallel zwei Fragen verfolgt. Zum einen wird das geschlechtsspezifische Verhalten der beiden Hauptpersonen untersucht, nämlich das der Tierfrau, die in Gestalt einer menschlichen Frau auftritt, und das des Mannes, der auschließlich menschlicher Art ist. Zweitens wird versucht zu verstehen, was für dieses geschlechtsspezifische Verhalten ausschlaggebend ist, und dabei herauszuarbeiten, welchen Einfluß gesellschaftliche Normen in bezug auf normative eheliche Verhaltensweisen auf die Erzählungen ausgeübt haben könnten.

A comparison of Greek and Turkish folktales has to consider the historical conditions of the formation of common and different elements in the cultures of the two peoples. Georgios A. Megas studied the relationship of the Greek folktale to the tales of other – mainly neighbouring – peoples and constantly compared the findings of the Greek catalogue which he elaborated with the catalogue of the Turkish folktales compiled by Wolfram Eberhard and Pertev Naili Boratav. Folktales in Greece and Turkey form part of living folklore systems where traditional storytelling is used to reshape collective and personal experiences and to face contemporary social and moral issues. A comparative approach therefore should consider these narrative corpora in relation to the local communities that have created and transmitted them. The main objective of this paper is to study the relationship of some folktales of the Greek-Orthodox populations from Asia Minor who settled as refugees in Greece after 1922/24 with Turkish narrative tradition. The investigation is based on a corpus of material collected during field research.   Résumé La comparaison des contes grecs et turcs doit considérer les conditions historiques qui entrent dans la formation des éléments communs et des différences dans les cultures des ces deux peuples. Georgios A. Megas a étudié les contes grecs par rapport aux contes des peuples voisinants et a comparé les contes-types du catalogue grec avec le catalogue des contestypes turcs élaboré par Wolfram Eberhard et Pertev Naili Boratav. L'art de raconter est une partie intégrale du folklore grec et turc et ces contes existent dans les communautés locales en tant que traditions vivantes. Les groupes et les individus s'approprient, diffusent et exploitent cette tradition de diverses manières. Dans ce cadre, une approche comparative peut étudier le rôle des communautés locales et des individus dans la transmission et la transformation du conte par rapport au contexte social de la transmission. Le présent article analyse les rapports des contes des populations grecques-orthodoxes de l'Asie Mineure, réfugiées en Grèce après 1922–24, avec la tradition narrative turque. L'investigation est basée sur un corpus des contes recueillies au cours d'un travail de terrain.   Zusammenfassung Beim Vergleich griechischer und türkischer Märchen ist der historische Prozeß der Ausbildung von Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschieden in der Kultur der zwei Völker zu berücksichtigen. Entsprechend hat Georgios A. Megas die Beziehungen der griechischen Märchen zu den Märchen der Nachbarvölker und besonders zu den türkischen untersucht. Der vorliegende Artikel analysiert die Beziehung einiger Märchen der griechisch-orthodoxen Gemeinschaften, die bis 1922–24 in Kleinasien lebten und danach als Flüchtlinge in Griechenland angesiedelt wurden, zur türkischen mündlichen Überlieferung. Die Untersuchung basiert auf einem Märchenkorpus, das bei Feldforschungen gesammelt wurde.

The Present State of Russia (1671) contains important records of traditional narratives relating to Tsar Ivan IV (the Terrible) collected by Samuel Collins, an Englishman who served as Tsar Alekse's surgeon in the 1660s. While the status of such narratives as instances of international folktales has been broadly accepted, it is helpful to consider them as representing two different traditions – one of popular Russian discourse, in which the Tsar is a good figure, punishing wicked nobles and officials and rewarding his honest humble subjects, and the other of expatriate discourse, stories current among resident foreigners in Moscow, in which the Tsar is depicted as arbitrary in his cruelty. Some of the narratives from the first tradition are found in later Russian popular tradition, while many of the stories from the other one appear particularly in earlier or contemporaneous writings about Russia by learned western and central Europeans. Placing the two sets of stories within these respective corpora allows us to better perceive their meaning. It is also worth attending to Collins's English relation of these ‘Russian’ stories, which possesses its own characteristic narrative style.   Résumé The Present State of Russia (1671) contient des documentations importantes de récits traditionnels sur le tsar Ivan IV (le Terrible), recueillis par Samuel Collins, un Anglais qui, dans les années 1660, servait comme médecin particulier au tsar Alexei. Leur statut comme exemples de narrations répandues à un niveau international est généralement accepté; il convient, cependant, de les considérer comme représentant deux traditions différentes – les uns appartenant à un discours populaire russe où le tsar est un personnage positif qui punit des nobles et des fonctionnaires méchants et qui récompense ses honnêtes sujets humbles, les autres faisant part d'un discours non indigène, c'est-à-dire circulant parmi les étrangers résidant à Moscou, dans lesquels le tsar est décrit comme arbitraire dans sa cruauté. Quelques récits de la première tradition se retrouvent plus tard dans la tradition russe populaire, tandis que nombre de ceux de la deuxième catégorie apparaissent surtout dans des écrits anciens ou contemporains sur la Russie rédigés par des érudits de l'Europe occidentale ou centrale. La différenciation des récits suivant ces critères permettra de mieux saisir leur signification. La reproduction anglaise de ces histoires ‹ russes › par Collins qui a développé son propre style narratif mérite également notre attention.   Zusammenfassung The Present State of Russia (1671) enthält wichtige Aufzeichnungen traditioneller Erzählungen über Zar Ivan IV. (den Schrecklichen), zusammengetragen von Samuel Collins, einem Engländer, der in den 1660er Jahren Leibarzt des Zaren Alexei I. war. Ihr Status als international verbreitetes Erzählgut ist allgemein akzeptiert; darüber hinaus ist es hilfreich, sie als Repräsentanten zweier verschiedener Traditionen zu betrachten. Die eine besteht in einem populären einheimischen Diskurs, in dem der Zar ein positiver Herrscher ist, der böse Adlige und Beamte bestraft und seine ehrlichen einfachen Untertanen belohnt. Die andere gehört einem außerrussischen Diskurs von Geschichten an, die unter den in Moskau lebenden Ausländern kursierten und in denen der Zar als willkürlich grausam dargestellt wird. Einige Geschichten der ersten Tradition tauchen in der späteren russischen Volksüberlieferung wieder auf, während viele Beispiele der zweiten besonders in von west- und mitteleuropäischen Gelehrten verfaßten früheren oder zeitgenössischen Schriften über Rußland erscheinen. Eine Differenzierung der Erzählungen nach diesen beiden Kriterien erlaubt ein besseres Verständnis ihrer Bedeutung. Beide wurden als Realitätsflucht bezeichnet – die Flucht aus der Welt, die man kennt und bei der man sich aus seiner alltäglichen Umgebung an einen Ort begibt, an dem alles anders ist und den man als ungewöhnlich empfindet. Sowohl das Erzählen, das traditionell in einer Zeit des Übergangs stattfindet, als auch die Reise fort von zu Hause sind mit einem Aufenthalt zwischen zwei Welten vergleichbar.
