Timed event graphs (TEGs) are a subclass of timed Petri nets that model synchronization and delay phenomena, but not conflict or choice. We consider a scenario where a number of TEGs share one or several resources and are subject to changes in their output-reference signals. Because of resource sharing, the resulting overall discrete event system is not a TEG. We propose a formal method to determine the optimal control input for such systems, where optimality is in the sense of the widely adopted just-in-time criterion. Our approach is based on a prespecified priority policy for the TEG components of the overall system. It builds on existing control theory for TEGs, which exploits the fact that, in a suitable mathematical framework (idempotent semirings such as the max-plus or the min-plus algebra), the temporal evolution of TEGs can be described by a set of linear time-invariant equations.

The class of hybrid systems describes most technical systems in great detail. However, the respective models and their behavior tend to be very complex. Recently, a new subclass of hybrid automata has been introduced, the Flat Hybrid Automata (FHA) that relies on the concepts of differential flatness for the continuous parts, and strongly connected automaton graphs for the discrete event part, in order to deal with the complexity from a design perspective. Therefore, we introduce in the present paper an approach to reduce the automaton graph of an FHA in a systematic way by removing edges from the adjacency matrix. The main contribution of the paper is twofold: Firstly, based on practical considerations we develop a heuristic algorithm to reduce the automaton graph. Secondly, we present possible ways to include knowledge about the system in the reduction.

Zusammenfassung Das Dualitätskonzept ist für lineare Systeme etabliert, wobei im zeitvarianten Fall der Begriff des adjungierten Systems ins Spiel kommt. Es war außerdem eine stete Quelle der Inspiration über den linearen Fall hinaus. Einige Beziehungen zwischen dem linearen zeitvarianten Fall und der Analyse sowie dem Entwurf nichtlinearer Systeme werden in Erinnerung gebracht und aus einem neuen Winkel betrachtet. Dabei spielen die Linearisierung um Trajektorien und eine Betrachtung unabhängig von Zustandsdarstellungen eine Schlüsselrolle. Regler- und Beobachterentwurf werden mit Hilfe sog. kanonischer Formen ebenfalls diskutiert.

Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag stellt eine modellprädiktive Pfadfolgeregelung für die Kombination mit einer kollisionsfreien Bewegungsplanung für Roboter vor. Zwei Besonderheiten sind mit diesem Anwendungsfall verbunden. Zum einen wird keine hochgenaue Pfadfolge benötigt, solange die Bewegung kollisionsfrei ist. Somit kann die Pfadfolgeregelung vom geplanten Pfad abweichen, um die Zielkonfiguration effizienter zu erreichen. Zum anderen ist eine exakte Bewegung entlang des Pfades prinzipiell möglich, so dass mit Hilfe einer Referenztrajektorie rekursive Lösbarkeit und Stabilität garantiert werden kann. Die Vorteile zeigen sich vor allem bei graphbasierten Planungsverfahren, wo die berechneten Pfade typischerweise stückweise linear sind und eine exakte Pfadfolge sehr aufwändig ist. Die Anwendung der Methodik wird in Simulationen für einen Manipulator und einen mobilen Roboter gezeigt.

Zusammenfassung Für gekoppelte semilineare Diffusions-Reaktionssysteme wird die Kombination der Backstepping-Methodik mit Dissipativitätskonzepten im Rahmen des Beobachterentwurfs vorgestellt. Dazu werden hinreichende Bedingungen für die Konvergenz des Beobachters unter Zuhilfenahme des intrinsischen Zusammenhangs zwischen Dissipativität und Lyapunovs direkter Methode hergeleitet. Numerische Simulationen für ein Beispiel nichtlinear gekoppelter, instabiler Diffusions-Reakti-onsgleichungen bestätigen die exponentielle Konvergenz der vorgestellten Verallgemeinerung des Backstepping-Konzepts für verteilt-parametrische Systeme.

Model-based solutions for monitoring and control of chemical batch processes have been of interest in research for many decades. However, unlike in continuous processes, in which model-based tools such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) have become a standard in the industry, the reported use of models for batch processes, either for monitoring or control, is rather scarce. This limited use is attributed partly to the inherent complexity of the batch processes (e. g., dynamic, nonlinear, multipurpose) and partly to the lack of appropriate commercial tools in the past. In recent years, algorithms and commercial tools for model-based monitoring and control of batch processes have become more mature and in the era of Industry 4.0 and digitalization they are slowly but steadily gaining more interest in real-word batch applications. This contribution provides a practical example in this application field. Specifically, the use of a grey-box modeling approach, in which a multiway Projection to Latent Structure (PLS) model is combined with a first-principles model, to monitor the evolution of a batch polymerization process and predict in real-time the final batch quality is reported. The modeling approach is described, and the experimental results obtained from an industrial batch laboratory reactor are presented.

Zusammenfassung Der vorliegende Beitrag betrachtet anhand einiger Beispiele die Einführung und Verwendung technischer Neologismen. Besonderer Wert wird auf die ursprüngliche Bedeutung von bereits bekannten Begriffen gelegt, welche in neuem Sinn interpretiert werden. Eine wichtige Rolle kommt dabei Anglizismen und Scheinanglizismen zu. Im Bereich der Ingenieurwissenschaften ist die sinnvolle und korrekte Anwendung technischer Ausdrücke von besonderer Bedeutung; sie spiegelt das Verständnis für die zu lösenden Aufgaben wider und ist darüber hinaus ein Anliegen der Informationskultur.
