Anthony Burgess and America
This chapter is in the book Anthony Burgess and America

Abstract

Upon entering into American culture in the mid- to late 1960s, Burgess began to be a regular commentator on the United States as an outsider through journalism, television appearances, campus lectures, and interviews. He was frequently called upon to discuss American cultural elements, politics, campus life, youth culture, literature, television and films, and an array of other topics. This chapter aims at focusing on several of the most important and repeated themes so as to catalogue Burgess’s communicative overlaps and exemplify the diversity of his commentary on matters of American culture.
