Abstract
Water, whether it comes from the inside or from the outside, is an enemy for archives buildings and their contents. The recommendations of the Directorate of French Archives on this point are explained in this presentation. Some representative examples of French archive buildings are presented in a context of protection against water and the damages it can cause. Selected architectural and technical details for the update of the facilities are discussed. Positive and negative examples of various buildings are presented together with general and specific technical recommendations and are illustrated by photographs.
Zusammenfassung
Wasser, das von innen oder außen ein Archivgebäude flutet, stellt die größte Gefahr für die verwahrten Objekte dar. Die Empfehlungen des Direktorats der französischen Archive werden vorgestellt und erklärt. Einige besonders repräsentative Archivgebäude in Frankreich werden im Zusammenhang mit Schutzmaßnahmen gegenüber möglichem Eindringen von Wasser und den daraus resultierenden Schäden präsentiert. Architektonische und technische Parameter für die Instandsetzung oder Erstellung von Depots werden ebenfalls vorgestellt. Positive und negative Beispiele für Gebäude unterschiedlicher Größe werden zusammen mit einfachen oder technischen Empfehlungen anhand von Dokumentationsfotos veranschaulicht.
Résumé
L'eau qu'elle provienne de fuites à l'intérieur ou qu'elle s'infiltre de l'extérieur est l'ennemi numéro un des bâtiments d'archives et des archives qui y sont abritées. Dans cette présentation, sont exposées les recommandations faites par les Archives de France à ce sujet. Quelques exemples représentatifs de bâtiments d'archives français sont présentés dans ce contexte ainsi que les mesures préventives contre la pénétration de l'eau et les dégâts qu'elle peut causer. Sont également exposés certains paramètres techniques et architecturaux permettant de retenir des locaux aptes à entreposer des documents d'archives. Des exemples positifs ou négatifs de bâtiments variés sont également présentés accompagnés de recommandations générales ou plus techniques et illustrés de photographies.
