1 Source of materials

The (2,4-dichlorobenzyl)triphenylphosphonium chloride (1 mmol) and MnCl2 (0.5 mmol) were dissolved in 10 mL of CH3OH, forming a transparent solution. The mixture was kept at room temperature for two days, resulting in the formation of green crystals.

2 Experimental details

The single-crystal X-ray diffraction data were collected using a Rigaku diffractometer. 1 The crystal structure was solved using SHELXT within the Olex2 software and refined by SHELXL. 2 , 3 , 4

The asymmetric unit of the compound consists of two (2,4-dichlorobenzyl)triphenylphosphonium (DCTP) cations and one [MnCl4]2− anion. Each DCTP cation carries a positive charge, while the [MnCl4]2− anion bears two negative charges. All geometric parameters are in the expected ranges for a benzyl triphenyl phosphonium cation. 5 The Mn–Cl bond distances in the MnCl4 2− anion are 2.390, 2.386, 2.349, and 2.348 Å, which are within the typical range reported in the literature.
