Abstract

A green and convenient approach for synthesis of nitriles from amines has been accomplished by using the environmentally friendly and inexpensive reagent molecular iodine/aqueous NH4OAc. The aqueous NH4OAc as a green reagent is more eco-friend than ammonia water, because of gaseous ammonia could be evaporated easily from ammonia water while aqueous NH4OAc is not. The possible mechanism of the present reaction was also proposed.
