Function Through Disorder: Intrinsically Disordered Proteins in Biology and Medicine
Intrinsically disordered proteins have been recognized as functional biomolecules for only ~10 years. The need for expanding knowledge on these proteins is vast. This second Gordon Research Seminar on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) aims to bring together graduate students, post-docs, and other junior scientists to present and exchange new data and cutting-edge ideas on many aspects of IDPs. The seminar is organized wholly by students and will be held for two days directly before the 5-day IDP Gordon Research Conference. The accompanying GRC chairs are Richard Kriwacki and Monika Fuxreiter and the vice chairs are Vincent J. Hilser and Sonia Longhi. The IDP GRS will focus on the fundamental properties of IDPs, recent advances in methods used to characterize IDPs, and the many roles of IDPs in normal cellular function and disease. There will be approximately 10 talks, which will be selected from submitted abstracts. Discussion leaders include Assaf Friedler, Ashok Deniz and Madan Babu.
