Chapter 10 Zen wisdom: When the Ten Bulls encountered the Inner Development Goals
-
Kouji Miki
Abstract
The main topic of this chapter is a comparison between the Ten Bulls and the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) from the tradition within Japanese Zen Buddhism. First, it explains what the Ten Bulls – a process with an 800-year tradition in Japanese Zen depicting the transformation of human consciousness – is. Next, the author traces the psychological process that led him to establish Zen2.0, the world’s largest international conference on Zen and mindfulness, through the Ten Bulls process. Finally, a comparison of the Ten Bulls and the IDGs and their potential for integration is explored, suggesting that the fusion of the Ten Bulls and the IDGs may lead to contemporary innovation processes.
