Abstract

Over the past two decades, the feminist critique in geography has focused attention on transport and mobility, generating a series of studies that emphasize the potential of the category of gender as a social and symbolic construct for understanding key aspects of everyday mobility and the planning of public transport. Based on a broad analysis of the relevant literature, this study presents a systematic review of the orientations that currently predominate in this field, identifies important thematic issues and theoretical discussions, and offers some methodological considerations.
