Abstract

Digital communication enables internet users to have perspectives of almost limitless communication. On the other hand, in the age of the Internet, we are experiencing a violation of ethical boundaries: people and groups are becoming objects of hate on the Internet. So-called hate speech has become a digital mass phenomenon. The article examines to what extent Tillich’s analyzes of fanaticism from the analogue 20th century can be used for today’s digital culture of participation.
