Abstract

This paper constitutes the first investigation of non-verbal predicate constructions in Pano, a medium-sized language family from Western Amazonia. The present study is based on the analysis of seven languages representing most of the principal subdivisions of Pano, with the caveat that Pano languages remain underdescribed and few of the available works devote significant discussion to non-verbal predication. It is our hope that the diversity of strategies examined in this paper will draw attention to the need of describing non-verbal predication systems in detail in the Pano family.
