Ein Kapitel aus dem Buch Volume 3 Middle English

Abstract

This chapter broadly rejects the creolization hypothesis put forward by Thomason and Kaufman (1977). At the same time, it recognizes deficiencies in standard accounts of the relationship between Middle English and Anglo-French, and reviews the current state of research on this topic. In addition, since at least some of the external circumstances which could have led to creolization existed, and creolization did not take place, the chapter discusses why that might have been so.
