Abstract
Cursing is a mystical form to end, to stop or to vanish something. It is against a person itself or a group of people and includes the words “anatheme is“ which means 'being excluded'. Cursing is one of the oldest and most interesting parts of Georgian culture with rituals which already existed B. C. in Georgia. There is rarely anything known about the modern role of cursing rituals, but they seem to be alive. Besides Christianity fighting against cursing as a sign of evil, the rituals are still alive. Cursing for example can be included in verbal fights which therefore seem to be dangerous. It is a mystical onomatopoeia which can be found in verbal as well as in written forms. The types of cursing are part of Georgian language of everyday life but now they got different functions in modern society. People from the cities are avoiding the outdated cursing rituals but in the countryside, they are included in everyday life of many Georgians. The article is about the aspects of the use of language: Mainly the quoting and parodying of ritualized cursing forms are being listed. Conversations will be analysed, transcripted and discussed. Furthermore, forms and functions of these old type within the Georgian girls language will be analysed.
