Abstract

The Modern Olympic Games are linguistically complex events. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games gave great impetus to the development of China’s language services industry and provides a reference model of language services for future international and comprehensive sports games. At the same time, the preparations for the Olympic Games also prompted China’s policy makers and academia to reflect on its national foreign language policy. A transformation in the mode of provision of language services is quietly happening as we enter an age of accelerated development of artificial intelligence (AI) and telecommunication technology.
